Cześć! =)

I'm planning holidays in the Gdańsk area with my girlfriend and we would like to take a beginners kite course in the area of Hel Peninsula / Rewa.
Searching on the internet I've noticed that there are quite a few kite schools in this area. Could you recommend specific schools which have a good reputation?
We would stay and use 4-5 days for the course in the period of 19th-24th of August.

Thanks for any info in advance!

I can recommend you check the wind direction 2-3 days before you start the course (windguru.cz or new.meteo.pl). Depends on the direction choose spot - Hel or Rewa. For S/W it's better check schools on Hel (wake.pl, molosurf.com), for N/W/E it's much better go to Rewa (kitegang.pl) :thumb:

What is the usual wind there? Because I will have to book at least the accomodation in advance without knowing what wind we gonna have on those days when we will be there... I would prefer to book the lessons in advance too.

Do you maybe know some good schools around Jastarnia-Chalupy too? (closer to the main land than Hel)- I heard some rumors that there can be quite a bit of traffic on the road at the peninsula and I'm not sure if I will be able to find accomodation on the peninsula.

Looking forward to the trip. :D

Thanks again for the help!

Hi mate,

There is no constant wind from a specific direction but by checking WindGuru or WindFinder (both can be installed on your smartphone) or as per web site http://new.meteo.pl you can predict from which direction you'll get your dream wind.

Unhooked wrote some options for example:

I'm pretty sure that in all major kite schools you'll find instructors with fluent English so call them and after a short conversation choose the right one for you - it make it easier to book it in advance - no hassle and no worries that you will miss something on translation. You can ask them about anything.

Each school (as far as I know) owns campers so there shouldn't be any problems finding a proper accommodation. If you book your accommodation on the peninsula and will have the wind from N, than you can easily travel by car within 10-15mins to Puck, in case of this situation occurs this will be explained by the instructor in a kitesurfing school you will decide to go with.

By the way. If you want to be near the mainland, do not go further than Kuźnica. Still on Sunday afternoon it takes about 40mins to get to Władysławowo (peak time) and another 1h to Gdynia but as I can assure you - Pucka Bay and Hel Peninsula is worth it :thumb:

Any questions just give me a shout.

All the best

I have a newbie question: at one of the schools they said that we can't be in the same group with my girlfriend if the difference between our weight is more than 30kg. What could be the reason for this? Are they using only one and the same kite for everyone in the group? That wouldn't make too much sense to me... but again, I'm a complete beginner. :)

most kite schools in poland will use one kite for 2 people. that's the standard approach.
so here's the answer why you can't go on for a lesson with your girlfriend.
but ask schools's representatives - i bet you can get it arranged, i've seen two kites & one instructor sessions (wake.pl).
they might wish to charge you differently because of two kites, but having fun together with your loved one is worth it, right?...
