This trick was invented or first landed by Scott Byerly. It was named after the famous baseball player, Pete Rose, who was known for his signature head first dives into home plate and while stealing bases during major league baseball games. When Scott would miss this trick on the water, he would usually fall out the front over the nose of the board, loose the handle and slide into the water hands and head first just like Pete Rose would dive into bases. A true Pete Rose is usually done with a front hand grab and a late 180 to finish the trick. However, over the years rider’s have come with different grabbed variations that have put a different twist on the same late spinning 360 invert.
